Sadly I missed out on participating in the 1st ever Weekend Testers Americas session last Saturday. I was in San Francisco at the Association for Software Testing Board of Directors meeting. Luckily I was able to have a Skype session open and intermittently followed along. I was impressed by the number of participants and the energy in the session. My fellow co-founders Michael Larson and Joe Harter did an excellent job! A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our 1st session.
This weekend will be the Weekend Testers Americas 2nd session. The session will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM PST. To participate, please be sure to add “Weekend Testers Americas” to your Skype contacts and send an email to WTAmericas@gmail.com with the subject “WTA02″. I am really excited to be participating in the Weekend Testers movement. I believe these sessions offer tremendous learning potential in combination with fantastic networking. Some of the greatest minds in software testing are participating in these events. I hope you will be there too!
The 1st Weekend Testers Americas Chapters session will be held this coming weekend. Very exciting! Co-founder Michael Larsen blogged the specifics behind forming the Americas Chapter and our 1st session on his post here.

I am extremely excited to share that the Weekend Testers movement is coming to North America.
Earlier this year I received some nudging from a couple different folks that my partner in crime Nancy Kelln and I should consider starting a Weekend Testers in Canada. Nancy and I did seriously discuss it and agreed this would be excellent cause to invest our energy in. Our immediate challenge was our already crazy schedules. Alas starting the WTCanada was put on the back burner for us.
This past week I started to see through the fog and decided to gauge the interest level for starting a WT in Canada. I decided to post the tweet “Fellow Canadians, what is the interest level in a CDN chapter of the Weekend Testers?”. Almost instantly I heard from Michael Larsen, Joe Harter and the Weekend Testers all excited to make this happen. Michael cranked out the blog post “Weekend Testing… Americas? Western Hemisphere? Coming soon?!” the same day sharing his excitement about getting a North American Weekend Testers started.
By today Michael and Joe have already connected us with the Weekend Testers and created the new Twitter account @WTAmericas. I expect these guys are going to make some serious progress very quickly! I feel bad as my short term time is limited as I am heading to AYE this weekend for a week. A huge thank you to Michael and Joe for getting this off the ground. I am eager to participate in my first ever WT session.
I am very hopeful that this movement will generate great momentum here in Canada and the United States. Be sure to follow the @WTAmericas on Twitter for announcements. You can also create your account on the Weekend Testers website and watch for announcements and updates on the new North America chapter.
